Wakatipu Ski Club
The Wakatipu Ski Club is located on Coronet Peak ski area, Queenstown New Zealand and was established in June 1949. Over the years the club has produced a large number of New Zealand ski team members, New Zealand ski team coaches as well as Olympic skiers.
The current hut was built in 1979 and has been extended to over the years with the most recent extension being in 2006. The club's focus these days is on providing subsidised ski & snowboard lessons for children, childcare facilities (Polar Bear Club), and a friendly family atmosphere in the hut.
Currently the club boasts over 300 families with a total of over 1,000 members. In 2007 over 300 children participated in our lesson programme.
It is the only ski club catering to Wakatipu locals, with our hut facilities well located on Coronet Peak.
Our hut includes a day room, well equipped kitchen, lounge with log burner, television & DVD, ski storage lockers, a large sun deck and child care facility.
Personal ski lockers are available on an annual basis to our members for a small charge.
The income of the club is through annual memberships and the Wakatipu Ski Club Snow sale that is held in May of each year. The sale has been running for over 30 years with well over 100 members being involved every year.
The Wakatipu Ski Club prides itself on its contribution to the Queenstown sporting community and is committed to assisting local families enjoy our mountains.
